Three best motivational words.
We are all capable of greatness, and we are all capable of happiness. But in the face of adversity, we often ask ourselves “Why me?” The truth is, what we should really be asking ourselves is, “Why not me?”
Trust me, I get it. Like the majority of everybody else, I too have a tendency to sell myself short. I often wonder why others have things that I don’t have, why are others more successful than me, and how can others be happier than me. It’s simple. As long as I am focusing on others, I will never reach my true potential.
“I am just as good.”
“I am willing to work just as hard, if not harder.”
“This is something that I know I would be great at.”
“I have dreamed for this moment all of my life.”
These are the thoughts that we need to be thinking instead of diminishing our own abilities.
Being the sports fanatic that I am, I often find myself scrolling the internet and finding random facts on professional athletes. It’s just a nice way to pass the time at work. As I was scrolling through facts one day, I found one that really stuck out to me.
John Chayka, a 29 year old man from Ontario, Canada, isn’t living the life of an ordinary male in their twenties. Instead, Chayka is the general manager of the Arizona Coyotes, a professional organization in the National Hockey League.
At age 26, Chayka beat the odds, and was hired as the youngest general manager in major-league sports. Imagine that, a 26 year old man being responsible for an entire professional organization.
As I sat there and read, I kept asking myself, “Why not me?” I know that I have what it takes. And it isn’t just about being the general manager of a professional sports team. For me, it is more about following any of my dreams and doing whatever it takes to achieve them.
Now, I am not being cocky or arrogant by saying that I am better than any other person, because I am not. I just truly believe that we all have the opportunity to create whatever life it is that we want to live.
With that said, I have found the belief in myself where I actually do believe that I have what it takes to achieve my dreams. If you want to achieve any of your dreams in life, you have to have that belief. Otherwise, your dreams will never come to fruition.
The moment that you start to doubt yourself and your abilities, that is when others around you are going to start to doubt you as well.
Who knows, maybe you want to be a general manager of a sports team, the CEO of a company, or a writer who is trying to inspire others. Whatever it is that you want to be, know that you can do it. But if you do not believe in yourself, how are you going to expect others to believe in you?
Do you have what it takes to achieve your dreams? Are you willing to work harder than ever to accomplish your goals in life? And are you willing to believe in yourself and in all of your abilities? The answer needs to be yes!
I believe in myself. I believe that I have what it takes to accomplish everything that I want to accomplish in life. And I also believe in you!
So believe in yourself? Be willing to work as hard as you can, believe harder than you ever have before, and are you willing to ask yourself, “Why not me?” Instead of making excuses, do whatever it takes, and go follow your dreams!
