When should you quit focusing on self-improvement? How do you know if this whole self-improvement journey that you are on is even worth your time?
Here’s what you need to understand about self-improvement, it has no end. The only time that it is ever acceptable to stop trying to improve on the person who you are, is the moment that your soul leaves this earth.
You shouldn’t want there to be an end either. Each and every day that you are blessed enough to awake, you should want to do so with the goal to be a better version of you than the one you were yesterday. You should want to inch one step closer towards achieving your goals.
How to stay motivated.
When I originally started on my self-improvement journey (I hate how that sounds but I don’t know how else to put it), I had the belief that it would be a one-year ordeal. One year to change my life, one year to achieve my dreams, one year to be able to just say f*ck it and do whatever I want whenever I want.
I wanted to travel, to be with family and friends, and write. That’s it. I didn’t want to work any longer, and I just wanted the freedom to be able to wake up wherever it is that I was travelling to.
But I was mistaken. Giving myself a year to achieve everything that I want isn’t a realistic expectation. How could I expect to achieve all of my goals in a year? Why did I think that I would just quit growing as an individual after one year? I mean, if it was that easy, wouldn’t everybody just devote a year of their time to live the life of their dreams?
Look, self-improvement is meant to be a never-ending journey. We shouldn’t just want to achieve a goal, we should want to achieve it and continue to build off of it. We should want to continue to grow as individuals every single day.
If you need a little boost of motivation on your self-improvement journey, just remember that change never comes to those who don’t actively and constantly pursue it. If you want to grow in any way at all, which you should, then you need to constantly be trying to improve on the person you are.
Life isn’t meant to just pass you by.
The moment that we quit trying to improve on the person who we are is the moment that we just become empty space on this earth with no purpose.
If we stop trying to improve ourselves, that’s exactly what we will become, empty space on this earth with no purpose. The world around us is never going to slow down, and neither should we. Whether it is continuing to learn, becoming as healthy as you possibly can, even simply being there more for your loved ones, you should never stop trying to improve on your life. You should never stop trying to be better.
I know it’s hard to believe, but life isn’t just about you as an individual. Yes, you should be focused on taking care of yourself primarily, but you should also care for others. Those who care about you need you, the world needs you. If you don’t value yourself enough to continue to grow in every which way that you possibly can, how can you then make a positive impact in more lives than just your own?
Here’s what you need to understand about self-improvement.
There is only one end and you shouldn’t want to see that end for the end represents the moment in which you die.
Every day of your life you should wake up with a purpose. You should wake up with the drive, the passion, and the fire to not only become the best individual that you can be because you deserve nothing less, but to also become the best individual that you can be to make a difference in more lives than just your own. How do you do this all? By never allowing yourself to stop improving on who it is that you want to be.
Challenge yourself.
I want to challenge you to challenge yourself. However you want to improve your life, do it today. Stop wasting time, stop limiting yourself, and continue to improve your life in any way possible. Don’t make it a one-day ordeal. Continue to improve yourself each and every day of your life, and never settle for less than your best. This is your one life, so make the most of it and hold nothing back.
