Daily Blog #252
We are just a few days into the new year, and yes, believe it or not, there are some people out there who have already given up on their goals.
Maybe this is you, or maybe this is somebody else that you know. Maybe you gave up on your goals after day one, or maybe you never even started. Either way, it’s never too late. It’s never too late to start, and it’s never too late to get pick yourself up.
At some point or another in your life, you are going to get knocked down. It isn’t going to be fun, it isn’t going to make you feel good, and it might even be a little embarrassing. This I know to be fact. But when you get knocked down, what are you going to do? You have one of two options. You can stay down and give up, or you can get right back up and try again.
Don’t stay down and let failure stop your from living the life that you have always wanted to live. Get right back up, embrace your failures, and continue to follow your dreams. If you want to actually achieve your dreams and live the life that you have always dreamed of living, then this is your only option.
When life knocks us down, we often see it as a sign that whatever it is that knocked us down just wasn’t meant to be, or that we aren’t worthy of it. This, my friends, is the furthest thing from the truth. When life knocks you down, it is a way of challenging you and testing you to see how badly you want to achieve your dreams. It is a way of rewarding those who are willing to work hard, and those who prove that they are willing to do whatever it takes to turn their dreams into a reality.
Yes, you are going to be knocked down many, many times. But realize that being knocked down does not mean that you are a failure. The only time that you will ever be a failure, is when you give up and throw in the towel.
Instead of seeing your struggles as failures, see your struggles as learning experiences. There is always something positive that can be taken away from every negative. You just need to keep an open mind, and you need to focus on finding the good in every outcome. If you do this, you will be much happier in life.
Let me give you an example. For the last two and a half years, I have worked on a commission basis. I work all month to hit my numbers so that I can have an opportunity to make more money. Well, out of the two and a half years that I have been working this job, never have I done as poorly as I have just this past month. I failed, and I failed miserably.
To be honest, a lot of my struggles stem from the fact that I took a week off of work to go on a vacation.
But through the negative of not hitting my numbers, having a smaller paycheck, and bosses who are less than please, I was still able to take many positives of what I learned about myself while I was on vacation.
Sure, I could choose to focus on the fact that I missed out on some money, or the fact that it was the worst month of my career. But in the seven days that I was on vacation, I learned more than I have in the two and a half years that I have been working my job. I learned more about life than any amount of money could ever buy.
I struggled, I got knocked down, and I struggled miserably. But those struggles aren’t going to define me. Those struggles are not going to justify the type of employee I am, and they definitely are not going to determine the type of human that I am. This is because I am choosing to get right back up, choosing to remain optimistic, and will try to work harder this month.
Today is going to be different than yesterday, and tomorrow is going to be different than today. No matter how many times life knocks you down, you can either stay down, or you can get right back up and choose to be the person that you have always dreamed of being. Believe in yourself, get back up, and live your best life.
