The Truth About Blogging: Why Passion Is More Important Than Money

How a niche blog led me to find my true calling – The truth about blogging

The Value Patrol. That name is so last week. It was the first web identity that I ever owned and the domain that I have learned the most from. After countless hours of watching tutorials and trying to build a website under that name, I realized it was time to shift my attention. Here is the pure truth about blogging and why I believe that passion is more important than any income.

The Value Patrol was started in February of 2018. I had this crazy good idea in my head that I was going to do reviews and direct sales through the Amazon Associates program. I thought that if I did this, I would be able to provide a steady income for myself. So I began typing, and typing articles on products that I thought people would want to read about.Oddly enough, I rarely owned the products, I simply read other reviews.

As the months flew by with no increase in website traffic, I had to ask myself what I was doing wrong. It was a simple, but a blind answer. I simply had zero interest in writing about the topics that I was writing. I had become so fixated on the idea of providing an income for myself that I wrote about anything that I had just the slightest bit of knowledge on. Instead of being motivated by providing people with valuable information, I was motivated on providing a passive income.

Needless to say, that blog failed. It was not like I was writing a post every single day and no one was reading it. I simply lost interest myself and only posted when I saw an opportunity for passive income. With not having a steady posting schedule, no one was going to come to my blog. Even when I started to pick up the slack and write more, it was still taking a lot of work to get any followers. A lot of work for something that I didn’t really care about.

I grew tired of the disappointment and decided that it was time for a change. I didn’t give a damn about writing reviews just so that people could use my affiliate link, I truly wanted to help people. We have all been through ups and downs in life, but I knew that I could help inspire people by providing my insight. We are all creative and we are all amazing at different things, it just comes down to finding your passion. For me, my passion was and still is to find a way and help people.

Finding my passion meant that I had to ditch the niche site that I had no interest in. If I wanted to help people, I knew that I had to provide valuable information that would benefit others. I started blogging a little on dieting and exercise and what it meant to be healthy, but it wasn’t unique content. After digging a little deeper, I found something that meant much more to me that anything. I came to the realization that it was my passion to help people find peace, love, and positivity in their own lives.

After finding my passion and focusing on it, all I wanted to do was write. My blog became one of the major focuses in my life because I realized that if I wanted to help people, I would need to post as much valuable content as I could. With this, Project 365 was created.

I wanted to challenge myself to publish a blog post everyday for 365 days. Not only would I be helping others and sharing stories of overcoming certain obstacles, but I would also be helping myself. Blogging acts as a way for me to vent and share my thoughts with the world. And I really don’t have to worry about being judged. It also tests my commitment. If I can do this for 365 straight days, I will have been able to prove to myself that I can do anything.

See, with everything that we do in life, we should always put our passion before a paycheck. I don’t regret starting a website focused on making an income. Ultimately, it taught me to dig deep and to find who I really am. My mistakes also led me to find what my passion is, and how it is that I want to help others.

What I am trying to say is that the thought of a paycheck led me to create a website that would ultimately lead me to find my true calling. My true calling is not to push an objective that does not mean anything to me, my true calling is to help others. For me, there is no better way to help others than by providing support. Instead of searching for money, I am searching for a way to help promote peace, love, and positivity.
