We have all been in the same position before. The position where we are willing to make excuses in the book because we just aren’t ready to break free and live our life.
Think about it, how many times have you heard or even used the excuse; I will start tomorrow, I am too tired, I am going to fail if I even try, I don’t have the money, I need to save my money, or the best one ever, right now just is not the right time. Well if right now is not the best time, then will be?
It is almost as if we are waiting for this perfect time in life to start living the life that we actually want to live. The truth is, the best time to start living your life, is right this very second. Every minute that you spend waiting after this exact moment is just time that you are wasting, and time that you will never get back.
Driving to work yesterday, I was listening to the MWF Motivation Podcast. Let me tell you, this podcast is one that really gets me fired up. Anyhow, the episode talked a lot about age, and how we tend to hide behind our age, and use it as an excuse for why it is that we can’t accomplish our goals in life.
You know, how an 18-year-old might say that they are too young to start their own business, and that they don’t have the experience. Or how a 65-year-old might say that they are too old to start chasing their dreams, so instead, they are just going to retire. Yeah, we have all heard it before.
The truth is, it doesn’t matter if you are 18 years old, or even 65 years old. The average lifespan is 80 years old. Even if you are 65 years old, you still have on average of 15 years to live. Now I don’t know about you, but so much of my life has changed in just the last year, nevertheless the last 15 years.
Every second that you spend coming up with some lame excuse for why it is that you can’t achieve your dreams is just time that you are wasting where you could be chasing your dreams. More than time, it is life that you are wasting because you are allowing fear to control your life.
It is not just age that we use as an excuse. As a society, we are willing to use every single excuse that we can think of for why it is that we can’t accomplish our goals in life. I get it, I use these excuses as well. Money, time, living situation, schedules, the people around us, the weather, ect. There are just some of the excuses that I find myself coming up with.
But just like I oftentimes have to ask myself, I want you to ask yourself as well; is it really worth it to wait for the “right time?” How do we know when that time comes? And how will you feel about your life if the “right time” never comes?
Truth be told, you and I both know that the odds of us starting something tomorrow, or next week are slim next to none. We both know that we are never going to have just enough money to start. And we both know that the world around us will never fully cooperate with our dreams and desires. Why should it? We are just one person in a world full of billions. But I guarantee you that the longer we wait, the more distant we are going to become from our dreams.
If you really want to wait for the perfect moment, then you are going to be waiting the rest of your life. There will never be a perfect time to start, so you might as well start right now. Do whatever it is that you want in your life, chase after the job that you have always wanted, go on that dream vacation that you have always dreamed of, or buy that car that you have had your sight set on for years.
Just go out and start living your life. This is the one life that you are ever going to have, and you never know when it is going to end. Maybe it is tomorrow, maybe in a few years, or maybe in a few decades. You just never know when it will be over. So don’t plan for something that you will never be certain of. Stop waiting and start living your life right now.
