Think Big In Order To Live Big

Why is it that we are often told what we can and can’t achieve and criticized when we dream and shoot for the moon? I mean think about it, how often have you been told to set “more realistic” goals for yourself, or that you can’t achieve something that you want to achieve? How many times have you been so excited about a big idea only to have it shut down by the doubt and criticism of others? Why are you led to believe that it is a better idea to think small instead of thinking big?

The thing about thinking small and setting small goals for yourself is that it will only lead to small levels of success. If you truly want to create larger levels of success for yourself, then you, in fact, need to be setting larger goals. You need to think big in order to live big.

Think Big In Order To Live Big

To say that big is always bad would be a lie. In many cases, bigger is better. Having a bigger bank account would help to ease the stress of having overdue bills. Having a bigger ambition to chase a goal is better than struggling to get off the couch to chase your dreams. You get the idea, bigger can sometimes mean better.

The reason that we are told to dream smaller, though, is because there is a greater chance of failure when pursuing a bigger goal, and for some reason, we have a tendency to think that failure only causes harm.

Here’s the deal, if you aren’t willing to fail, you aren’t willing to learn, and if you aren’t willing to learn, then you are never going to grow as an individual.

Those who tell you to dream small are only doing so because they are scared of taking a chance on themselves and because they are too insecure to encounter failure. Now, let me ask you a question. Where are they at in life? Have they achieved any amount of success in their life? Are they happy with where they are at or are they just settling?

Yes, it does require more effort, more dedication, and more responsibility to achieve big goals. Big goals also come with a greater risk of failure. More importantly, though, they come with a greater potential of success. One is not going to achieve endless amounts of success, happiness, or any other desire in life by thinking small. One has to think big in order to live big. Thinking big is what gives you the best chance to achieve extraordinary results.

You get what you ask for.

If you truly want to change your life in more ways than you could have ever imagined, then you need to ask for exactly what it is that you want your life to look like. You will not make a million dollars this year by only wishing and working for ten thousand. You will not find constant happiness in your life if you only wish to feel “okay.” If you want to live a bigger life today than one you are currently living, then you need to think bigger than you are right now.

Life will give you exactly what you ask for, exactly what you believe that you deserve, and exactly what you are willing to work for. Nothing more and nothing less.

The danger of small goals.

When you set your boundaries small, you are immediately limiting what you are truly capable of achieving. Sure, small goals can be beneficial to set, but they aren’t worth anything unless they lead to a bigger and more meaningful goal.

If you are afraid to set big goals for yourself, your actions will only reflect as such. Your drive to succeed will be lower, the amount of gratification that you receive from achieving small goals will be reduced, and overall, you will be left feeling exactly what you are thinking: small. That’s not how life is meant to be lived. You are meant to go after each and every one of your dreams and turn them into your reality.

Big is too far away.

Think about some of the people whom you admire most, the individuals that have achieved endless amounts of success over the course of their life. How do you think they got there? I can tell you that it isn’t because they have more time than you because we all have the same amount of hours in a day. It isn’t because life favors them more because we all face obstacles. Instead, it’s because they think big and they pursue those thoughts with all they have. That is why they live big.

Big goals can seem scary to achieve from where you are currently at in life, but just like with everything that you have experienced in life, you will grow with life as time goes on. They might seem scary, but if you truly want to achieve the life you envision yourself living, then you need to be willing to move forward at all costs.

Removing doubt.

There is nothing more than cripples us in life more than doubt. The doubt of others, and the doubt that lies in our own minds as well. This doubt, yeah, don’t listen to it. Don’t limit yourself and set your boundaries low. You are meant to achieve all that you want in life. This is your one chance, so why not make the most out of every precious second that you have?

I hope that this inspires some to actually start believing in themselves and to dream big. We are often told that dreaming is for kids, or that we should be more realistic with our goals. Just remember that nothing worth having in life comes from playing it face and being realistic. Those who are crazy enough to believe that they can change the world are the ones who actually do. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain, so follow your dreams and remember that you need to think big in order to live big.
