Can you tell that I have been all about happiness and positivity lately? But why not? I think we all feel that when we are happy in life, there seems to be very little that can bring us down. There are few things that are better in life than being happy. And lately, well, I have just been happy.
Truth be told, I don’t want to live with anything but happiness and positivity. And why would I? Why would I want to live my life focused on something that isn’t going to help me to become a better me?
My goal in life is to be the best person that I can be. That is why I have made happiness and positivity a priority in my life. In fact, very few things in life matter to me more than happiness and positivity.
Call me naive, but if I am not happy, then I know all too well that every area of my life is going to suffer. And they are all going to suffer drastically.
I know this to be the case from first hand experience. If I am not actively and consciously prioritizing happiness and positivity in my life, I become a miserable person. Not only am I miserable in my own mind, but I also have a tendency to negatively impact those around me. I become depressed, and very unproductive in almost all aspects of life. For me, that just isn’t how I want to choose to live my life.
While my purpose is to be happy and positive, I do also realize that there are more things to live for aside from just happiness and positivity. Things like helping others to live a better life, doing my role to make the world a better place, and simply being the best person that I can be. But I personally believe that happiness and positivity take precedence.
So where is this all coming from? Well, recently I have been doing a lot of reading on what it means to truthfully be happy in life. Also a lot of reading on what it is that I can do to find happiness on a consistent basis.
But to much disappointment, a lot of what I have been reading indicates that our purpose as humans shouldn’t necessarily be to focus on happiness. Instead, our purpose in life is usefulness. Useful to the environment in which we live in, and useful to those who are living in the world around us.
I don’t know about you, but if I am walking around in a pissed off mood towards the world, I am the exact opposite of being useful. In fact, I know that I will be doing more harm than good to the environment around me. And definitely more harm to those who have the pleasure of being near me.
Anyone who knows me could probably attest to what I am about to say. When I am happy, I am one of the most enjoyable people to be around. But if I am in a negative mindset, then watch out. At any given moment all hell could break loose.
See, if I didn’t prioritize happiness and positivity in my life, I would not be able to help others find happiness in positivity in their own life. If I didn’t focus on the light in my life, I wouldn’t be able to help others find their light. And I definitely would not be making the world a better place.
So to me, very little matters to me more than happiness and positivity. Everything in my life falls second to being happy and positive, because I know that it will all come with me being happy and positive.
I have chosen to prioritize happiness and positivity in my life to eliminate the negative, and it is a choice that I am willing to live with. Simply because happiness will help me to accomplish much more than any amount of negativity will.
Now, do I believe in being useful to the environment in which I live in? Absolutely. Do I believe in being useful to those around me? You bet. But not at the expense of happiness and positivity. Simply because I do not believe that anyone is really all that useful when they are in a negative state of mind. Happiness attracts others, while negativity drives people away. How will we ever be useful if all we are doing is driving others away?
So yes, I do believe that the purpose of life is happiness and positivity. I also believe that if you want them, you need to be willing to work for them. So go all in. Work for them, and watch how much better your life will become. Watch the positive impact that you will have on the others around you, and on the environment in which you live in.
