Daily Blog #318
Take a second, stop what you are doing, and just think to yourself. Think about your life. Think about all of the things that have already consumed your life, and think about the things that you want in life moving forward. Do you realize how truly lucky you are? Do you realize the odds that you and I have defied? Here we are, living what is said to be a 1 in 400 trillion odd. You and I, we are living the greatest gift known to man.
Now I want to thank you. Not just for doing what I asked you to do and think about your life, but for spending your time reading this. However long it takes you to read this is time that you are never going to get back. Every single second that ticks away from here on out is time that you are never going to be able to relive. And at any given moment, it could all come to an end without you even knowing.
That is how precious life truly is. Nearly everything that we have once lost in life, we can get back. But time, time that ticks from our internal clocks, that is gone forever.
I hope that you can see what a miracle you and I are living right now. Not only were we gifted with the amazing gift of life, but the fact that you are reading this means that you are also one of the wealthiest on this planet. Nearly 80% of the population in the world lives off of $10 per day. And yet again, here we are – blessed as can be. You and I, we probably spend $10 on our daily coffee intake.
Now, do you see how precious your life is and how truly blessed you are to be living the incredible gift that you are living? If you do, then I want to ask you something. Why are you wasting away this precious life? Why are you allowing others to control your one opportunity of existence, and why are you not doing everything that you can do in order to live the life that you dream of living?
I mean, let’s be real, this is it. Every single second that passes from here on out is time that we are never going to get back. Every second that ticks away will become nothing but a distant memory that we will only be able to reflect on.
Think back on the things that you have done this last year. Think back on some of the places that you visited, some of the relationships that you grew, and some of the activities that consumed your time. Reminiscing on it all makes it feel like it all happened just yesterday, does it not? But the reality is that all of those memories comprised 1/75th of your life, maybe 1/80th of your life if you’re lucky.
What I am getting at is that you need to stop wasting the precious time that you have. Unless you start taking the time to do the things that you want to be doing, and unless you start living the life that you want to be living, you are never going to know. You are never going to know what you could have achieved, and you are never going to know the opportunities that you potentially missed out on.
I don’t know about you, but to me, there is nothing scarier to think about that never knowing what could have been. I can accept the fact that I am going to be judged by others, I can accept the fact that there are going to be many times where I am going to fail and fall flat on my face, and I can accept the fact that I am never going to be perfect. But what I can’t tolerate, is thinking back and not knowing what could have been. Not any more.
We spend so much of our lives trying to control things that don’t always matter. Things such as how many people like us, how much money we have, and the clothes that we wear. None of these are ever going to define the life that you lived. What does, however, is what you choose to do with the time that you have.
Don’t spend your one and only life living for the acceptance of others. Live for the acceptance of yourself. You are living the greatest gift known to man. It is your gift, and only your gift. Everybody has their own life to live, so don’t try to live somebody else’s life for them, and don’t let them live yours as well. Find what you are passionate about, find what brings meaning to your life, and live with a purpose. Start right now, and chase the life that you dream of living.
I can’t express enough how badly I want you to learn from the mistakes that I have made in life. As someone who always allowed fear and the judgment of others consume my life, I will be the first to tell you that it isn’t worth it. I will never be able to relive the time that I lost.
But while I will never be able to relive it, I can prevent that same feeling from consuming my life moving forward. And not just for me, but for you as well. I want you to see how amazing life is in hopes that you live yours to the fullest. This is it. We are living the greatest gift known to man, and nobody but ourselves can stop us from living it to the fullest!
