Why You Should Take A Break and Relax
Before I go into this post, I just want to clarify that I am not taking a break from blogging. Creating a daily blog has been one of the best things that I have done for myself. How? I will explain this more in depth in tomorrow’s post. Today, in the present moment, I am sitting in the airport about to depart to Las Vegas for the weekend. I can’t help but sit here feeling relaxed and relieved. For the next four days, I don’t have to worry about anything in life. Work, exercising, bills, or anything. All of that is on hold for the next four days. For the next four days, I get to take a break and relax.
Now like I have said many times before, I tend to have an obsessive personality. When I get an idea or thought in my head, it sticks with me. I tend to go overboard until I reach whatever it is that I set out for. My everyday life is no different. Whether it is with work, exercise, or just being a family member, I try to be the absolute best that I can be. I mean it doesn’t make sense for me to spend my precious time on something if I am not going to give it my very best. But we need to learn to breathe. We need to learn that giving our absolute best and being the most productive can only last for so long.
Life is one LONG marathon. Everyday we get up, get dressed, and go to work. After work, we rush around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off trying to cram ten pounds of shit into a five pound bag. Eventually, we lose interest in things that we used to find enjoyment in. Why? Because we never give ourselves a break. We are in constant motion until we force ourselves into a state of burnout. Use batteries batteries for example. If you never shut off a battery, it will run out of energy a lot quicker. The same things applies for humans. If we don’t give ourselves a break every once in a while, we are going to run out of energy with everything that we enjoy.
In order to be the most productive, we need to establish a fresh and motivated mindset. When we put ourselves in constant stress for weeks, months, and even years, we are going to slowly lose motivation. Yeah, talk about being everything but productive. Taking breaks and recharging can help to boost productivity and motivation. You just need to learn to let go for a few days and quit thinking. Once you do this, you will come back with newfound energy and you will be ready to chase your goals. Picture it this way. You will take two steps forward and one step back. If you can take consistently repeat the process of taking two steps forward and one step back, you will be the most productive person ever.
What we need to do as humans is to cut ourselves some slack and recharge our batteries. All of the other shit (pardon my language) in life can go on pause for a few days. Take time for yourself and just reset your mind and your body. You will come out feeling more motivated than ever before and will be ready to take on the world. Do what I am doing. Take a break, relax, let life go for a while, and enjoy a good drink.
