Much like happiness, kindness too is a choice. If you want others to be kind to you, the answer is simple – you need to be kind to others.

Always remember that what goes around, comes around.

It’s your choice to be cognisant of your actions and to have the desire to go out of your way for others. It’s your choice to want to strive to make the world a better place. And it’s your choice to surround yourself with characteristics you with to reflect – to surround yourself with kindness.

As we all know by now, the more that you surround yourself with what it is that you want to become, the greater the likelihood you have of fulfilling that want.

Always Believe In Yourself

A few days ago, I was blessed enough to receive an offer from a company that I interviewed with – the only company that I interviewed with. The crazy part for me is that it’s not just an opportunity to switch jobs, it’s also an opportunity to help inspire others and to create an enormous impact on thousands of lives.

I never thought I would be saying this, but I am going to be working in higher education. More specifically, helping learners in completing their higher education goals.

Pretty crazy and surreal for a guy that never thought he would be continuing his education or working in the field. A few years later, and well, I’m going to be doing both!

It just goes to show you that when you learn to believe in yourself and take risks in life, you never know what you can achieve.

Surround Yourself With Kindness

When I found out that I got the position, I immediately called every single member of my family to tell them the good news. Everybody was beyond excited for me, and one of my sisters even took me out to dinner to celebrate.

At dinner, something really hit me. All of these people had stopped what they were doing and put their lives on hold to come out and celebrate. Now, I’m sure it didn’t hurt that there was good food as well, but just the thought of them coming to celebrate my new job made me feel incredibly humbled and blessed.

All day long I felt incredibly blessed – blessed to be offered such an amazing job, blessed to have so many people reach out to me and congratulate me, blessed for the amazing opportunity that I have in front of me to help create such an enormous impact, and simply blessed to living my best life.

What’s The Purpose

So… why am I sharing this sappy love story with you?

I guess the entire point of me doing this 100 Random Acts of Kindness Challenge is to show you that life is so much better when you are kind to others.

There was a time in my life where I wasn’t happy, where I was depressed, and when I treated others poorly. During the time in which I would treat others poorly, that was also the time that I hated life the most.

On the contrary, however, once I started to focus on happiness and started making the conscious decision to be kind to others, that’s really when my life started to turn around. I was able to find things to be happy about, my relationships with others began to grow, and overall, life simply became more enjoyable to live.

Final Thoughts

There are many things that you can do to improve your life, but one of the easiest things that I can recommend that you do is to focus on doing whatever it is that makes you happy and choose to be kind.

As cliche as this may sound, it’s the simple, yet cold hard truth. Nobody is going to change your life for you. Take it from somebody who has had to learn from many years of heartache, quit wasting your life away, and choose to surround yourself with kindness. It will truly change your life.
