Alright, just because it’s Monday doesn’t mean that you should have a bad day. In fact, it means quite the opposite.
Monday’s should be a day that you L.O.V.E. You can finally put last week behind you, you can set goals for what you want to achieve this next week, and the best part is that you have a clean slate to do just that.
Anybody who tells you that they hate Mondays is lying. It isn’t Mondays that they hate. It’s either their job that they hate or whatever other obligations they might be doing with the majority of their time during the week.
Those who love Mondays are they ones who can’t wait to get back into the office, to challenge themselves, to connect with other like-minded individuals, and to pursue their dreams with every ounce of energy they have. Just the thought of another day at home relaxing is enough to drive them stir-crazy.
Now I get it, relaxing is important, but wouldn’t you also love to wake up on Monday mornings feeling energized, excited, and ready to take on the week ahead of you? If so, then pay attention. I want to share some of the things that I do in the mornings that help me to feel energized, alive, and ready to take on the day. Here are 3 steps to kick ass in the morning.
3 Steps To Kick Ass In The Morning
Okay, before I jump into it, it’s important to know that everybody is different. While something might work for me, it may very well not work for you. That’s why you need to take what I say, and simply adjust it to what’s going to work best for you.
1. Decide Your Optimal Time to Wake Up
I am a firm believer in waking up a few hours before starting my workday. When I used to commute an hour to work, I would wake up at 5 a.m. Now that I am not commuting any longer, I have started to wake up at 6 a.m. instead.
The reason I wake up early is so that I like to prioritize my wants.
Well, maybe not. If you want to be effective and achieve your own personal goals, you need to be willing to make yourself your own number one priority.
Think about the times when you wake up late and feel rushed. You immediately throw yourself into the day and get weighed down by other distractions such as work, relationships, children, etc. By the time you get home, you simply have no energy or motivation to work towards your goals. As a result, you go through life simply “going through the motions” instead of creating the life that you desire to live.
The best way to prevent that is to wake up earlier. Wake up at a time where there are no other distractions so that you can prioritize your wants, so that you can work towards your goals, and so that you can get closer to living the life you desire.
2. Develop A Morning Routine That Is Easy to Follow
Another good way to kick ass in the morning is to develop a morning routine that is easy to follow and one that you will stick to.
Personally, I wake up, go for a run, come home and write down what I am most grateful for, plan out my day, and then sit down to write.
And yes, for those wondering, I am able to get all of that done in about an hour and a half timespan.
I have found that I am a lot more energized in the morning and that I am able to focus a lot easier when there is stillness around me and everybody is still asleep. Plus, it also feels good to come home from work and not have to worry about working out because I already got it done in the morning.
Maybe you aren’t like me though. For some people, working out in the morning doesn’t come easy. Maybe you don’t work out at all. The point is, build a morning routine that is going to be easy for you to follow, and one that is going to help you to progress towards achieving your goals.
As you go through the day, your energy levels are only going to decrease. Use you energy wisely by creating and following a morning routine that is going to set you up for a successful day.
3. Get Yourself Into A Positive Mindset and Express Gratitude
Positivity is key to kicking ass in the morning. If you are not in a positive state of mind, you are not going to have a good day. You need to do yourself a favor and make positivity and your overall happiness a priority of yours.
Again, while I’m not saying that you have to do this, I personally write down a minimum of 5 things I am grateful for every single morning, will envision my goals for the day, and will repeat positive affirmations over and over to myself.
I have found that in doing so, I am far more likely to stay positive throughout the course of the day and I am able to think more clearly when obstacles and challenges present themselves.
Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you look good. Recite some positive affirmations. Share some of the things that you are most grateful for in life. However you choose to do it, just make sure that you are prioritizing a positive mindset and express gratitude before you get going with your day. The mood that you prioritize in the morning is the one that generally stays with you through the remainder of the day.
