Set goals and crush them.
Do you want to learn how to set goals and crush them? Then pay attention.
Setting goals for yourself is a crucial part to achieving any amount of happiness and success. There is just something that makes us focus more when we have our vision and our dreams mapped out and in focus.
But the thing is, a lot of us just set goals and simply expect the outcome to come to us. It is almost as if we think that there is a magic formula to where if we just take the time to set our goals, then everything that we want will follow.
I hate to break the bad news to you, but this is not the case. If we want to achieve any amount of success or happiness through goal setting, then we need to be willing to put in the work to achieve these goals. Whatever it takes, and no questions asked. Without having the will and desire to put in the work that is required, well, then we are simply wasting our time.
So, here are some steps that you should follow so that you can crush your goals and achieve all of your dreams.
Focus on you.
Don’t set a goal because you think that it will make someone else happy. Don’t set a goal because you want to impress other people. Set goals that YOU want to accomplish, and nothing else.
People are going to judge you no matter what it is that you chase in life, even if you are just chasing their approval. Trust me, I have been there. Life is a lot more fun and enjoyable when you chase your own dreams instead of the beliefs of others.
Follow your beliefs.
Focus on the more important picture. Why do you want to achieve your goals? Are they going to bring you happiness and purpose in life? Or are they going to bring you a short burst of happiness that will be gone before you know it. Focus on something that will truly benefit your life instead of focusing on something that you think you want.
I have noticed that when we follow our beliefs and set goals to better our lives as well as the lives of others around us, we are more likely to stay committed. This is because we actually care enough to want to see the outcome instead of focusing on a materialistic item that will be meaningless next year.
Find what you are interested in.
Again, this one is on you. Find what it is that you are interested in, and set goals around that interest(s).
If you are passionate about being a writer, focus your goals on improving your writing skills. If you are passionate about sports, focus your goals on excelling at sports. It can be anything that you are interested in, you just have to want to become better.
Break your larger goals into smaller goals.
We all have those HUGE things that we want to accomplish in life. But odds are, these larger goals are going to take years and years of hard work and dedication to achieve.
So, how do you stay motivated throughout the duration? Set smaller and more attainable goals that will lead to the bigger picture. Set smaller weekly, monthly, even yearly goals that will help you to stay motivated.
Keep track of your progress.
Part of the reason that a lot of us struggle with achieving our goals, is because we simply forget about them. We have this great idea, set goals for ourselves, write them down, and then stash them away in a drawer where they will be forgotten.
Keep your goals in a place where you can see them on a daily basis, keep track of your progress, and never lose sight of your why.
Ask for help.
Hey man, we all struggle once in a while. Even with goals of our own. There is absolutely zero shame in asking others for help. It doesn’t matter if we achieve our goals on our own or with the help of others. Our only focus should be doing whatever we can do to achieve our goals. If we need help from others, then so be it.
In fact, asking for help almost always does more good than harm. We are presented with a different approach that we might not thought about, fresh ideas, and sometimes, even a partner to help.
Accept your mistakes.
This was the hardest thing for me to accept. I mean, I am perfect… or not. The point is, we are all going to make many mistakes along the way. But if we never made mistakes, we would not be learning and we would not be growing.
Don’t think of your mistakes as failure. See your mistakes as a learning opportunity and a chance to become the best that you can be. Plus, we all need to do a better job with realizing that there is no such thing as perfection. Nobody is perfect, and nobody will ever be.
Make sure you are ready to work.
This is another part of goal setting that a lot of people struggle with. Your goals are not going to come easy. Nothing in life worth having is going to come easy, and nothing that comes easy in life is worth having.
There are going to be many ups and downs with any goal that you want to accomplish. If it truly means enough to you, you will stop at nothing until you achieve it. You are going to have to work harder than you ever have before, and you are going to have to believe in yourself more than even. BUT, if you do this, you will be rewarded.
Enjoy the process and have fun.
Having fun is the name of the game. If you are not having fun with what you are doing, then you are pursuing the wrong idea. You are going to get burnt out, and all of this will just be a big ole waste of time.
This is your life, and these are your goals. You are going to be chasing these goals every single day, so make sure that you are going to having fun in doing so. Don’t chase them because you feel like you have to. Chase them because you want to. Chase them because you can’t live without them.
It’s time to put your plan into action. Don’t wait until the New Year. Start now and get a head start on your dreams. You can do anything, and you can achieve anything that you desire in life.
Use these tips to help set goals in your life, and work to crush your goals. Trust me, you can do it. As long as you work hard and believe in yourself, you can turn any goal into a reality.
