Turning “One of Those Days” Into A Good Day

Make Today More Than Just One of Those Days

The negatives in life are inevitable. No matter how hard we try, or no matter how hard we want to fight them, there are going to be days where we are just feeling “off.” Maybe something happened at work, maybe we are stressed, or maybe we are just tired. Despite trying to shift our thoughts, we are left feeling blank and confused. Well, today is one of those days for me. One of those days where I have to dig deep to find even the slightest amount of light.

Part of my mission with blogging is being able to be transparent and relatable. Just like I want to help you through my writing, I also do it to help myself. I write to help myself escape, and to help my mind feel the freedom of wandering. My mission is to encourage happiness and positivity in the lives of everyone, while having the ability to reflect on my thoughts. But I am not perfect, you are not perfect, none of us are perfect.

While I wish happiness upon every person, it is also important to face the realization that sometimes, we are just going to have one of those day. You know, the days where you want to be left alone, the days where you can’t think, and the days when you are simply irritated.

I would be lying if I said that I am always happy and positive, because in all reality, I am not. But for me, it isn’t about having a good day every single day. For me, it is about growing as a person every single day. Part of doing so is by being honest and truthful. If I want to spread a positive message, I feel that it is just as important to share the days that I am down.

Today it was just a case of being overly tired. Tired to the point of a constant headache and not being able to think. The more I tried to think, the heavier my head was pounding. Everything then added up. The noise, the pain, and the lack of being able to think left me wanting to explode. It might seem silly to you, but that is what caused my bad day. That is what made today just one of those days.

Like I said, bad days are inevitable. Without ever having a bad day, we would simply never know what a good one looks like. Negative things that happen in our lives do not define who we are as people. What does define us is our perception, and what we do to minimize the damage that has been done.

We have a choice. We can either let negativity dictate our emotions and our actions, or we can learn from negativity and grow from it. If you want to find happiness and peace in your life, you need to minimize the negativity. You need to learn from it, and you need to grow from it.

The bad has come, and the bad has gone. It might have sucked in the moment, but instead of focusing on the bad, focus on the good. This is when we truly find out what we are made of. It is during the times of darkness, the times of hardship, and the times of trials that we need to count our blessings instead of accepting negativity.

Think about any amount of good that has come from the negative. As I sit and share my thoughts, I am also reflecting on how proud of myself I am. Proud for recognizing the opportunity that I have to change my attitude, and proud that I managed to minimize my negativity. All because I have reflected, and focused on my blessings.

If I had a bad day like this a year ago, not only would today have been completely ruined for me and those around me, but I would have wore my emotions for more than just today. But not anymore. Not today

Know that it is your choice. Don’t sit and expect to only experience the good in life. Manage the bad, learn from the bad, and grow from the bad. Once you do that, you will realize that the bad might not be so bad, and that today is more than just one of those days.
