Never Let An Opportunity Pass You By… Seize It

If you could go back in time and change one thing from your past, what would you change? Would you have started traveling the world like you have always wanted to? Would you have started working on that business that you always wanted to start a lot sooner than you did (if you have even done so in the first place)? Would you have taken more risks for the change of finding more happiness and meaning in life?

Remember this feeling. Why? Because as much as you want to go back and change the past, you will never be able to. Remember this feeling so that the next time an opportunity presents itself, you seize it. Never let another opportunity pass you by.

Learning To Seize Opportunity

Our minds come up with amazing and incredible ideas all the time. The only issue with this is that we either forget about these ideas because of our lack of taking action, or because we allow our fears to get in the way and consume our thoughts.

Either way, we are never going to create a life worth living if we follow these mindsets.

The good news, though, is that there is a way to prevent these feelings of regret. It’s called by taking action.

Whatever it is that you want to achieve, start taking action. Every moment from here on out that you fail to take action is only going to prolong the amount of time that it is going to take to turn any opportunity into your reality. Here are a few tips to help:

– Jump in right away. If an opportunity presents itself, seize it immediately. If it’s not for you, then move on. But at least you will know that it wasn’t for you instead of always wondering “what if?”

– Write down the things you want to achieve. Not only will this prevent you from forgetting, but every time that you see the things that you want to achieve, you will gain a sense of motivation to pursue them.

It Takes Courage To Seize Opportunity

Saying yes doesn’t give you time to think about the various problems that could arise. It throws you right into the fire and requires you to surrender and learn to go with the flow of whatever comes next.

In interviewing individuals for his book The Happiness of Pursuit, Chris Guillebeau came across a lady named Sandi. Sandi had worked for GM for twelve years before getting laid off. As her coworkers were sending their resumes to whoever would take them, Sandi decided to take a two-month cross-country road trip and decided to photograph the entire trip.

In her interview with Guillebeau, Sandi says, “I had zero clue how to do it, but I was driven by the desire to avoid looking back years later and calling myself a chickenshit for not using this opportunity for something.”

As Sandi recalls, getting laid off was one of the best things that had ever happened to her. It eliminated any and all of the excuses that most of us come up with for why we don’t seize the opportunities that we have in front of us. She said that she wishes she would have done it sooner instead of spending twelve years of her life doing something in which she truly didn’t care about.

Jump In Head First

There are going to be times that you are going to fall flat on your face, times where you may look completely ridiculous, and times where people may even judge you for taking every opportunity that life throws at you.

At the end of the day, though, you have to do what makes you happy. You have to do whatever it takes to start living the life that you have always dreamed of living. Don’t let the thought of failure or judgment stop you from doing so. Failure and judgment are temporary, but regret lasts forever.

If something feels right, go after it with all you have. Know what you want to achieve in life, trust your intuition, and never let anything stop you from living your life. Jump in headfirst, and never let another opportunity pass you by.

Never Let An Opportunity Pass You By

I promise you will never look and say “I wish I wouldn’t have taken as many chances as I did.” But if you don’t take those chances, you will always look back and say, “I wish I would have done more with the time that I had.”

Happiness, success, and a life well-lived come to those who not only seek that life, but to those who act towards achieving it. There is no better time than right now to start seizing all of the opportunities that life throws at you. Never let an opportunity pass you by and make the most out of the time that you have.
