Guess what! 2019 is almost here.
It’s crazy to look back and wonder where time has gone. I mean, it seems that just a few weeks ago we were ringing in 2018 and setting our new year’s resolutions. Well, here we are a year later and a year older, a year wiser, and a year more experienced in this journey called life.
But I want to let you in on a little secret. Whether you absolutely crushed 2018, or whether you struggled to accomplish any of your goals, I am here to help make 2019 the best year of your life.
THE ADVICE I HAVE FOR YOU
So how can you make 2019 the best year of your life? How can you accomplish all of your goals and stay on the right track? By being true to yourself and following your dreams. Don’t be somebody you’re not, and don’t follow the dreams of others. Be yourself, and follow your own dreams.
Crazy simple advice, right? Sure, it might seem simple, but it’s also something that a lot of us struggle with. Reason being, because a lot of the goals that we want to accomplish in life are based around the ideas and beliefs of others. You know what I am talking about. That weight that you want to lose in the new year, the goal that you have of getting a new job, that brand new fancy car that you want to buy and payoff with cash. Ask yourself, are those things that you truly want, or things that you just want to show off?

WHY IT MATTERS
I know that when I used to set goals for the new year, I used to wonder what would make me look better in the eyes of others. What are some of the things that I could change in my own life to get others to like me more. It wasn’t about being the best me that I could be. It was about being the best me that others wanted me to be.
It’s not that my life sucked in any way at all, but I was never happy. My parents did everything for me, I grew up extremely blessed, but yet, I still hated life. Actually, it wasn’t necessarily life that I hated, I mainly hated myself. So much self-hatred because I would allow my actions and beliefs to be based off of the opinions and ideas of others. I was living a lie, and it felt like I would never escape it.
WHAT I LEARNED
Please do the both of us a favor, get that mentality out of your head, and learn from my mistakes. It doesn’t matter what goal you have in your life, but just make sure that you are doing it for you. If you want to lose a little weight, great. If you have a goal of getting a new job, awesome. If you want to walk into a car dealership, lay down some bands, and buy a car outright, feel free to do so. But with all of these examples or any other example that you can think of, make sure you are doing it for yourself, and not for the acknowledgment of others.
WHAT I CAN TELL YOU
Since living a more independent life and saying screw what other people think, I have never been happier. Seriously, not only am I happier, but I have never loved life more. I am creating more memories, experiencing new adventures, and just living life to the fullest. And it is all because I am finally living how I want to live instead of how others want me to live.
So as the new year approaches, set goals for yourself, but just make sure that the goals you are setting are goals that YOU want to accomplish, and not goals that others have for you. Be the best individual that you can be, follow all of your wildest dreams, and love yourself for the amazing and beautiful person that you already are.
Here’s to making 2019 the best year of your life!
