Let me ask you a question. Are you more motivated or are you more inspired? Motivation and inspiration are two out of the three major core values that I live my life by. While many assume that they are one in the same, it is important to know the differences between the two. Through writing everyday, my goal with my blog is to help inspire you to find your own motivation. Motivation can’t be found for you by others, but inspiration from others can lead to you finding your own motivation. Let me explain the differences and how I am inspiring you to find your own motivation (or at least trying to).
To help summarize the main difference between motivation and inspiration, there is a saying that goes “Motivation is of the ego, and inspiration is of the soul.” So what does that mean? It means that motivation is something that you have to find in yourself based on what drives you. It is the reasoning why you get out of bed everyday, the reasoning why you work, and the reasoning behind any of your actions. Inspiration is something that you feel inside. Something that triggers your motivation to get up and carry out any type of action.
Imagine it this way. Marathon runners train long and hard everyday. They are running miles and miles of hills day after day. Why? Because they are motivated to be the best. They know that if they are not putting in all of the effort to be the best, there will be another person out there who will be putting in the effort. It is that fire and thought of being the best inside of them that is getting them to run. They do not practice for hours to be rewarded with a medal after every run. They practice so that when it comes time to compete against others, they will be well trained and and well prepared to race. The thought of being at the top of the podium is what drives your ego. That is what motivation is.
Along with motivation, it is also important to chase inspiration. See, your motivation is already out there. No matter what it is in your life that you are looking for, it is already out there. It can be a job, a house, or the thought of being the best athlete. The opportunities are there, it just comes down to what you are willing to do in order to achieve them. Can others help you find it? Yes, but they can’t give it to you. Others can trigger thoughts in your head that leads you to carry out a certain action. That is what inspiration is.
While I can’t wake you up every morning and find your own motivation for you, I can help to inspire you to find your own motivation. I can give you some ideas and share some suggestions that will help you draw conclusions on what you want in life. See, if I am able to inspire you, I am doing nothing more than helping you to connect the dots in your own head needed to get you up and chasing your goals. My goal is to help you to see what is already inside of you to create that motivation in yourself so that you can achieve your dreams.
If you take the smallest step in the direction towards achieving your own dreams, you are going to feel excited. This excitement is going make you want to reach the next step, and the next step after that until you have achieved whatever it is that motivates you. The more motivated you are, the more productive you are going to be in achieving your dreams. You are going to want to achieve the desired outcome (motivation) because of the thoughts (inspiration) that somebody helped you to piece together.
Like I said earlier in this post, I can’t find motivation for you. Motivation is the thought that only you have that leads you to carry out actions. What I can do is to help provide inspiration. I can share advice that will hopefully help you to piece some thoughts together to help you find motivation. So establish small goals, achieve them, and continue to seek success.
Please, let me know what I can do better to help inspire you. Let me know what I can do differently to help you find more motivation in yourself. I am making it my goal everyday to help inspire you to find motivation.
