Just Say It With Me. “I Am The Greatest”

I am the Greatest

“I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.” MUHAMMAD ALI

Now before you go typing some hateful comment or telling me how full of myself I am, please hear me out. Please know that I am not as full of myself as you may think. I am not saying that I am the greatest son of all time, the greatest athlete of all time (we all know that I am not), or even the greatest human being of all time. Instead, I am the greatest at something much more more important than any of those… combined. I am the greatest at something that nobody will ever be great. I am the greatest at being Michael Bonnell.

The best thing that we can ever be in life, is being the the person that we already are. Not the person that others want us to be, not the person that we think we should be, but the person that we already are. You are the greatest you that there is, and I am the greatest me that there is.

Do you want to know what makes people truly great? It is the mindset that they have. The mindset that they are the greatest, and that mindset that drives them to settle for nothing less than their dreams.

Over the weekend, I was looking into the minds of some of the most successful athletes in the world. One of the first ones that came up was Muhammad Ali. Ali was not only an amazing boxer, but he was an even better human being. What made him so great? The fact that he believed he was. He believed it to the point where he said “I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.” Not only did he believe, but he worked and made others believe. That is confidence at the highest level.

When I first saw this quote, part of me thought that it was said out of arrogance. But I realized that it isn’t arrogant, it is the mindset of a champion. It is the mindset of a person who is not going to settle for anything less than what they believe in. Every person who has ever achieved any level of success all have one thing in common. It is the mindset that they are the greatest. They think that they are the greatest, they act on what they want, and they achieve.

We oftentimes sell ourselves short in life. We get in the mindset that we don’t deserve to be anything other than mediocre, or average, and we become content with just being a normal “average joe.”

Is that really how you want to live your life? Is that really how you want to be remembered? I doubt it. So do something about it. Change your attitude, believe in your abilities, and find your greatness.

Who cares how big your goals and dreams are. If you do not believe that you are the greatest, and if you do not believe that you can achieve your dreams, then you never will. It is that simple. You can only achieve in life what you believe you can achieve.

Whenever you start something new, you have to have the mentality that you are the greatest. Entrepreneurs don’t start businesses just to break even. Professional athletes don’t train just to make the cut. So why does anyone else? Why do we settle for anything less than being the greatest? We are meant for so much more.

Whatever it is that you do in life, if you go into it doubting yourself and saying ‘I am probably not going to do well,’ well duh, you don’t stand a chance. With an attitude of doubt and with an attitude of negativity, you are going to fail. You will fail miserably, and you will never be able to pick yourself up again.

I don’t believe that I am the best athlete to ever live. I don’t believe that I am the greatest politician to ever live. To be honest, I really don’t care to be. But I do believe that I am the greatest at whatever it is that I put my mind to. I believe I am the greatest at telling my personal story to the world. I believe that I am the greatest at inspiring others through my individual story. And more importantly, I believe that I am the greatest me. That is what matters to me, and that is why I am the greatest. I have individual characteristics that make me great, and so do you. You just need to believe that you do.

So learn to believe. The moment that you start to believe, is the moment that you will achieve. Believe in yourself, believe that you are the greatest in whatever it is that you are doing, and settle for nothing less. You were not created to be mediocre. You were created to show the world how amazing and unique you are. Tell yourself that you are the greatest at whatever it is that you want to be, and achieve your dreams!
