How to be a happier person in 4 easy steps
What a great day. Do you want to know why today is a great day? Well, let me tell you why. Today is a great day because I woke up and told myself that today was going to be a great day. See, no matter what negativity or challenges life is throwing at me, I have learned to simply brush it off, and move on. I am not perfect, but it takes a lot to break my mood. Life is too short and precious to be angry all the time. It wasn’t always this way, though. In fact, I used to be full of rage. After becoming tired of what my life had become, I had to teach myself how to be a happier person. Here is what I did.
First thing first. Every single day, the first thing that I do is smile and tell myself that today is going to be a great day. I do not know if this is something that others have found success with, but it works well with my addictive personality. When you force yourself to say something, odds are that it is going to stick with you. By telling myself that today it going to be a good day, I genuinely believing that it will be a good day. This sets the pace for the day and starts my mood off in a positive way.
I also make it my daily goal to make the day better than yesterday. Imagine if everyday were better than the previous day. That would be amazing. It would lead to more happiness and success each and every day. Instead of just imagining, make it happen. Make if your goal to have today be better than yesterday. You have the power and ability to, all you have to do is to work for it.
The second thing that I did was find many sources of motivation. I have the “luxury” of sitting in traffic for an hour and a half everyday. What better way to pass the time than to reinforce motivation and positivity. I have filled my phone with motivation and inspirational podcasts and YouTube videos. When I am alone in the car and listening to podcasts, I am able to think deeply and clearly. By filling what might be wasted time to some, I can establish more positivity and motivation in my life. It just helps me to feel better about my day.
Another way that I create happiness in myself is by writing down my thoughts (before I go in depth with this topic, I wanted to say thank you for reading about my thoughts everyday). With my blog, I am not only trying to help other people find motivation, inspiration, and positivity, I am also helping myself. Sometimes, all we need is a way to express our thoughts. While some express their thoughts by art, others by music, and some by speaking, I have enjoyed expressing my thoughts by writing. Having a journal allows me to go back and read previous entries. If I am having a bad day, I can always look back for some motivation or methods that I previously used to turn my day around.
The final thing that I do is share my thoughts with others. Talking with those closest to you can be one of the best things that you can do. The people who are closest to you are the ones that care about you the most. They are going to fight your fight alongside of you, and they are going to be there to pick you up when life has knocked you down.
Throughout my five year battle with depression, I have tried to surround myself with positive and motivational individuals. I truly believe that the energy from other people directly impacts our individual mood and perception. By surrounding myself with like minded and positive individuals, my motivation was able to be at an all time high even during the most difficult battles. If someone doesn’t like me, I am fine with that, I will just surround myself with people who will support me and will help to inspire me.
That is truly what it comes down to. If you are a person who is looking to seek more happiness in your life, you need to surround yourself with as much motivation and positivity as you possibly can. Notice that when people surround themselves with violence, they are more likely to end up in trouble with the law. The same is also true for the opposite side of the spectrum. When you surround yourself with motivation and positivity, you will be happier and more likely to succeed. Whether it is through YouTube videos, podcasts, or your best group of friends, you need more. So remove negativity and hatred from your life and be a happier person.
