Daily Blog #353

It all starts the moment that I wake up. The sun beams in through the big windows in my bedroom that are overlooking the busy streets of Boston. As most are going to work in their suits and ties, I throw on some jeans, grab a book, my journal, my laptop, and I head downstairs to the Starbucks that is conveniently located in the lobby of my condo.

After reading for a few hours, I sit with my orange leather backpack next to me, write in my journal, and publish on my blog. Once the time hits noon, I head upstairs to my modern looking condo, lace up my blue Nike’s, and go for a run through the streets of Boston. The smell of fall is filling my nose as I am running over the freshly fallen orange and yellow leaves.

While I could go into much greater detail and tell you the color of my shirt, the way people are dressed around me, and the length of my hair, I am not going to because I don’t want to bore you any more than I probably already have. The point is, this is my dream. Every fine detail is one that has been thought of, and it is now one that I am chasing. These are all the details that make up how my reality will soon look.

So, how do you dream? How do you dream, and what are you going to do to actually achieve your dreams? We all have dreams and we all want to achieve them, but what steps are you taking to get there? Here are some things that have helped me.

1. Know what you want

Dreams aren’t just things that we want and desire. Dreams are things that we can’t live without. They are the thoughts that continuously flood our mind as we lay our head down to sleep, and the thoughts that awaken our minds first thing in the morning. They are what motivate us to go about our days. Those thoughts, those are your dreams.

2. Envision your dreams

This is where you can have fun and be creative. Map out every fine detail of how your dreams are going to look once you do achieve them. Envision the color and model of the car that you are going to but, the furniture that fills your dream home, the weather as you are on your dream vacation, the call you make to your mom when you tell her that you did it. Whatever it is, plan it out and go into as much detail as you possibly can.

3. Write them down

No, I’m not kidding. Write down the exact way that you envision your dreams, and place it in a spot where you will see it each and every day. The more you see your dreams, the more you realize how badly you want to achieve them, and the more motivated you will be to actually do so.

4. It’s goal setting time.

How are you going to achieve your dreams? When do you want to have them achieved by? What are the steps you are going to need to take in order to get there? These are all things that you should be thinking about. Write down small and specific goals that you want to achieve over time, and make sure that they all lead up to your larger goals.

5. Work harder than you ever have before.

Oh man, let me be the first to say that it’s not easy work, but know that it will be worth it. As long as you never quit and never give up on yourself, you will achieve each and every one of your goals.

After you achieve your dream.

Now it’s time to live the life you have dreamed about living. What do you do now? You dream some more and repeat this exact process because only those who work towards their dreams will ever achieve them.

Everybody dreams, but few ever achieve their dreams. As long as you never stop believing in your dreams, and as long as you never stop chasing them, you will be one of the few that will achieve them. It will be a lot of hard work, but the only way to live the life that you envision yourself living is by doing more than what you are currently doing. If you want your dreams badly enough, you will do whatever is required in order to achieve them. So believe in yourself, work hard, and dream bigger and brighter than you ever have before.
