“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” – Lewis Carroll
How many times have you missed out on an opportunity in life because you decided to play it safe? How many times did you say new to something new and exciting because you allowed your fears to get the best of you? What happens when you finally decide to take that chance on yourself and don’t play it safe?
Stop for a moment and reflect a little bit. Think back on all of those times that you have given up on yourself and have allowed your fears to stop you from achieving something new and exciting. All of those opportunities that you missed out on with friends, the opportunities to advance at work, the opportunities to create a memorable life. All for what? Just to play it safe?
I get it. This had been the motto of my life for a very long time. But not any longer. No longer will I live by the motto “Play it safe.” The new motto of my life, “Don’t play it safe… go all in.” It’s a motto that I believe in, and one I encourage you to try.
It’s only when we are willing to take a chance on ourselves that we realize what we are truly capable of achieving. Without taking chances on ourselves, we would have nothing. No friends, no significant other, no family, nothing. All of the best things in life come from taking chances, but yet, we still hesitate to take enough of them.
Going All In
All of this brings me to something that I am truly excited about.
My goal in life is to inspire others to make the absolute most out of their lives, to follow their dreams, and to love the person that they are. I want to build a community where everybody is welcomed. It doesn’t matter race, age, sex, religion, obstacles that you have endured, or anything. My goal is to build a community where each and every single person is welcomed.
So, I decided to start a YouTube channel. Not just any channel though. I want to start a channel that inspires others, one that brings people together, and one that sets aside all judgment and gives others hope when they need it the most.
Some might look at this idea and think “Why?” And to those who are asking, let me ask you something… Why not?
I’m going all-in on my dreams because I don’t want to look back when I’m older and wonder what my life would have looked like if I had chased my dreams. I don’t want to wonder what my life could have looked like if I would have taken more chances on myself, or if I would have done something that I found meaningful. I simply want to know. I want to paint my own picture and know that I gave life my all.
As scary as it is to publicize this, to make it known to those whose approval I used to seek, and to paste my face all over the internet, I know that if I don’t take this risk, then I will never know. I will never know how many lives I could have impacted, what I could have made out of this, or what I am truly capable of achieving. And to me, the thought of not knowing is more gutwrenching than any amount of judgment.
Don’t Play It Safe
“Great moments are born from great opportunities.” – Herb Brooks
Today, take that chance on yourself. Don’t play it safe because you fear what might go wrong. If you fear of what might go wrong, then nothing in your life will ever go right. All great opportunities and all great rewards come when we overcome our fears.
Whatever your dream is in life, simply go for it. Going for it is the only way that you will ever make it into your reality. Don’t play it safe, don’t hesitate, but go all in with everything that you have.
