“Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear.” – Tony Robbins
Ever notice how when you put your mind to something, and you work incredibly hard, how that something often times becomes a reality? It doesn’t matter what you want to be in life. If you are willing to work for it, and follow your dreams, anything is possible.
It’s quite simple; you get what you focus on, so focus on what you want.
Sounds too good to be true, right? That is because if you think about it, it is pretty much common sense.
Personally speaking, I always assumed that life had to be much more complex than this. I mean, you get what you focus on? Seriously? That can’t be it. If I wanted to be successful in life, than the answer had to be some complex equation that was going to take years to solve. Again, that is what I assumed.
Well, I was wrong.
The “focus on what you want, not what you’re afraid of” concept has not only helped to increase my happiness, but it has also helped to increase my personal success, as well as my overall well-being both physically and mentally. How much has this concept played a role in my life? To be honest, it has benefit me in more ways than I could have ever imagined, and more ways than I ever believe to be possible.
What we need to realize, or at least what I needed to realize, is that all of the different emotions that we experience are not apart of some scientific biological equation. We can achieve whatever emotion it is that we desire by simply focusing on that emotion.
The crazy part is, every single day, we all use this concept. Maybe you didn’t even realize it at the time. But think about it, there are things that you have desired and gotten for yourself. When you are hungry, you get food. When you want sleep, you sleep. If you want to impress your boss, you work as hard as you can.
Whatever it might be that you have received, you received it because that is what you directed your focus and energy towards. These might be basic examples, but it is still the exact same concept.
Sure, there are going to be many things that you are not going to be able to control. But if you can’t control them, why let them control you? Complaining and directing your energy towards the things that you can’t control is not going to help. In fact, it is only going to cause anxiety and stress, and will leave you feeling depressed and unhappy with life.
So if you don’t want these feelings, or any other negativity in your life, then don’t pay any attention to them.
If you want to live a happier and more positive life, focus on the positives instead of the negatives. If you want to achieve your dreams, focus on the things that you can control, and the things that you are doing right instead of what you are doing wrong. Whatever it is that you do want, direct your attention to it.
You have the ability to achieve anything that you want to in life. You just need to be willing to recognize the strength that you already possess, and believe in yourself and all that you are worth. Oh, and don’t forget, focus on what you want, not what you’re afraid of.
