How to Find Light in the Darkness
The past week has been filled with many highs and lows. From the stress and anxiety of buying a new car, to the enjoyment and relaxation of golfing with my family. It has caused a rollercoaster of emotions that has left me searching. Searching for consistent happiness, searching for endless motivation, and searching for light in the darkness.
My life is simply a blessing. Plain and simple. Everything from my family, to my freedom, to my job, to my beliefs. But even with all of the blessings in my life, I sometimes find myself being suffocated by my own emotions, trying to grasp any amount of light in the darkness that is surrounding me. I think it is safe to assume that we all feel this way on occasions.
The past week was one of those times where life was grabbing me by the throat, and forcing me to take a step back. As I was blessed enough to be able to spoil myself with purchasing a new car, the stress quickly caught up to me. The stress was not because of anything negative, but because of the fears that I had drawn up in my head. The fears of uncertainty.
What if my employer cans me? What if I lose all of my savings? Or what if something incredibly bad happens and I can’t work anymore? These are the thoughts that were consuming my emotions.
It is at this time that we need to take a step back, breathe, and focus on the blessings that we have in life. Perfection is an illusion that is different to everyone, and something that is unattainable to all.
If I do get canned, I will get canned knowing I gave it my all. If I lose my savings, well then I hope I had fun doing it. But fearing an outcome that is far fetched is not going to do myself any good. Instead of fearing the things that we don’t have or things that might happen, we need to be grateful for the things that we already do have, and the things that have already happened.
Bad day are going to come and go. These are the days that we need to learn from, these are the days that we need to grow from, and these are the days that we can’t be scared of. Without a bad day, how will we ever know what a good day feels like?
With whatever happens in life, try to find the light in the darkness. Try to find the good in every bad situation, and let it help to grow you into the person that you want to become. Be grateful for the blessings that you have, and never forget how love you are by those who surround you. Let your light shine brighter than any darkness, and live your best life.
