If you have ever stopped to reflect on your feelings, you will notice that all of the bad feelings that you experience seem to last forever. Feelings such as fear, anxiety, depression, and anger. It’s almost as though these feelings never go away while all of the positive and uplifting feelings that we experience seem to pass us by in the blink of an eye.
The thing about feelings, though, and the thing that you need to remember at all times of your life, is that feelings never last. Both good and bad feelings are always subject to change in the blink of an eye.
While we allow our feelings to take over our mind and impact the decisions that we make, we fail to realize that we will not feel a certain way forever. Instead of acting within reason, we have learned to act out of impulse.
There Is Always Hope
Through my battle with depression, it felt as though my life was never going to get any better. I was losing sight of what it meant to be happy, and there were times where I didn’t know if happiness was something that I was ever going to find again in my life.
Let me put it this way, I thought I was f*cked. I thought that my life was over, the world around me was nothing but dark and gloomy, and I honestly believed that I was going to live a miserable and unfulfilling life for the rest of my days.
The sad thing is that I allowed my actions to reflect this. I quit doing things that I once enjoyed doing, I quit talking to my friends, and I quit living my life.
We all go through these difficult times, though. I am sure that you can reflect back on a challenging time in your life and relate exactly as to what I am talking about. The last time that you experienced any amount of heartache, any amount of sadness, and the amount of hurt you probably felt as if you were doomed. Either that or you too were just screwed and were going to be stuck this way forever.
But what happened as time went on? Your feelings changed, didn’t they? Better or worse, they changed. Why? Because feelings never last.
Shift Your Focus
I know that this is a lot easier said than done, especially when you are feeling trapped in your own emotions, but you just need to try your best to shift your focus. Focus on the good in your life, focus on the things that bring you happiness and joy, and focus on all that you have already achieved.
You aren’t meant to have life more difficult than anybody else, and you aren’t meant to feel inferior to every other person around you. So if you are going through a difficult time in your life right now, just remember that it isn’t going to be this way forever. Realize that while good thoughts will come and go, so too will the negative ones.
There will be times when it feels as if life is suffocating you with nothing but sadness and heartache.
There will be times when it feels like you are having to climb mountains to overcome even the smallest of obstacles.
There will be times where you think the pain and emotions that you are feeling right now will consume you for the rest of your life.
It is normal to feel all of these emotions, but know that just like all of the other times prior, these feelings too will pass. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. If you want to find your true strength, then you need to start by shifting your focus towards thoughts that you wish to reflect who you are as a person.
Make The Most of Life
The point of this is to help that one person who feels like giving up completely. I know what it’s like to be in that position, and it isn’t a fun place to be. No matter what you do, though, never give up. Just like your feelings have changed throughout your life, they will continue to do so. Just like you never know how close you are to achieving your dreams, you never know who close you are to finding your happiness. But if you give up on yourself, it will be gone forever.
Allowing your negative feelings to control your actions is never going to get you anywhere in life. You can either choose to live your life down and depressed while you allow your negative feelings to control your actions, or you can make the most out of the one life that you get to live and focus on positive feelings. From somebody who has been there, though, try your best to remain hopeful. Remember that feelings never last, and it is hope that will help you to overcome the feelings in which you fear.
