I love Mondays, but dang, waking up early after spending the weekend sleeping in until I naturally wake up is no easy task. In fact, it can take multiple alarm clocks just to get me to even flinch.

Once I wake up, though, I get excited. Not because I have to get ready to go about my day and eventually head off to work, but because I get to. The fact that I am able to wake up every morning and live my life is in and of itself a blessing.

But how do you feel more energized throughout the day? How do you go from having to fight off the Monday blues to going about your day and absolutely crushing every obstacle that stands in your way?

Here are 5 tips that will make you feel more energized and ready to kick some ass on this beautiful Monday morning!

1. Wake up early.

The earlier you wake up, the better. I know that it seems contradicting because normally if you want more energy then you should probably get more sleep, but it works. Wake up no later than 6am and get a move on with your day.

The longer you stay in bed, the more challenging it becomes to get started with your day. Not only that, but how you choose to spend your mornings directly affects your success for the day. Do you really want to start the week off on a bad note, or do you want to get things done and feel productive? The choice is yours to make.

2. Get your body moving

There’s a reason that it’s suggested not to exercise right before you go to bed. That reason – your blood is pumping and your body is fully awake. It takes a while for your body to calm down, which is why no matter how challenging your workout was, you feel like you still have a good amount of energy directly afterwards.

You don’t need to go to the gym and try to lift more weight than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Take a lap around your neighborhood, take your dog on a morning walk, do some jumping jacks in your room, really just anything to get your body moving and ready for the day.

3. Organize your day

I really can’t tell you how bad I used to be at this. I oftentimes felt like the most unorganized person in the world because I was always forgetting to do tasks that I needed to get done. It’s not like I choose to not do these tasks, but I simply just forgot about them. While it’s good to wake up and go with the flow of life, it’s also good to have a direction in which you want your life to go in.

For me, organization has almost become a game. I get up in the morning, write down all that I want to accomplish for the day, and then it becomes a game of how many boxes of completed tasks I can check off. I don’t expect to be perfect, just 1% better than I was yesterday. If I can be 1% better every day, well, then watch out world.

4. Complete an easy task

Have you ever heard that making your bed can actually help you to set yourself up for success? If you are like me, you probably thought that statement was absurd and foolish. But if you think about it, it’s actually true. Doing something as small as making your bed in the morning can actually help to set your day up to be a successful one.

There is nothing more motivating than being able to wake up in the morning and quickly check a task off your to-do list. It gives you a sense of satisfaction and the drive to keep progressing towards being able to check more off of that list. That’s why making your bed can actually be beneficial in helping to set your day up to be a successful one. It’s an easy task that takes all of 30 seconds, and it helps to start your day off in the right direction.

5. Go to sleep earlier

As I said earlier, waking up at 5am or right around that time is no easy task. If you want to achieve more over the course of your day though, then you need to start prioritizing your wants instead of wasting your time.

Sure, after work it’s hard to go home and not turn on the TV that is just sitting there watching your every move, but is watching TV really going to help you to get closer towards achieving your goals? Probably not…

Instead of staying up all night watching shows that are irrelevant to your success, use that time to get some good quality sleep so that you can wake up earlier in the morning and start making yourself a priority before being dragged down by everybody else’s schedules. You are only going to achieve what you are willing to work for, so start making yourself a priority, and put your dreams before the dreams of others.

Start living a more productive life

You don’t need more time in the day in order to be more productive, you just need to learn to be more productive with the time that you have.

Start implementing these 5 tips into your day, and I assure you that they will make you feel more energized in the morning and will help you to achieve more throughout the course of your day.
