The holiday season isn’t just the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be one of the most stressful times of the year as well.
I tend to be a bit of a frugal individual, especially if I know that I am going to be spending a lot of money in advance. I don’t like the idea of spending a significant amount of money, and when I do spend a lot of money all at once, I get stressed out. My mind is constantly wondering what I am going to be able to do to make that money back.
Let’s just say that my mind is constantly spinning during the holiday season.
The good news, though, is that there are always ways to make money. As long as you are willing to give up some of your spare time, you can make some extra money doing almost anything.
Here are 5 ways to make some extra money during the holidays.
I just recently talked about Shipt in a previous post, but it is truly a great way to make some good money. Essentially, people will pay you to go grocery shopping for them. They create a list of what they want, you go get it for them and then deliver it to the customer, and then you get paid.
With each delivery, you are guaranteed a flat fee for delivering the order. Customers also have the ability to tip you on top of the delivery fee. It that wasn’t enough, there are also promotions that can pay upwards of $20 for orders that may be expiring soon.
In my seven orders with Shipt, I have made more than $180. Yeah, I have made $180 for working what would probably be a total of 8 hours. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
2. OnMyWay App
Truth be told, this one isn’t going to make you a lot of money, but any money is worth it.
OnMyWay App is an app that will literally pay you cash for not texting while you are driving. It tracks the location of your phone, and as long as you aren’t using your phone while traveling over a certain speed, you will earn money for every mile that you travel.
If you take a bus to work, download the app on your phone and put your phone in your pocket. When you get off the bus, you can open your phone and you will see some extra money on your account. Again, it’s not going to be much, but I still think it’s worth it.
You can also earn money through referrals. If somebody signs up under your code, not only do you get $2 per referral, but you also earn additional money when your referrals don’t use their phone while driving.
Medium is one of the blogging platforms that I use. If you are an avid blogger, sign up for the Medium Partner Program to start earning money. It’s completely free to sign up, and if your writing is good enough, you can potentially make thousands of dollars per month.
There are many success stories on Medium of writers who are earning more than $10,000 per month through blogging. The more people read your content, the more money you can make.
4. Sell stuff on Ebay
Recently, I have been going through my room and getting rid of things that I haven’t touched in a year or so. I am trying to ease my way into a more minimalist lifestyle, so not only am I getting closer to the goal of simplifying my life, but I am also getting paid extra money to do so.
I have only sold a few items, but in the month that I have been selling on Ebay, I have made an extra $733.38. The good news is that I still have a lot of stuff to sell. The bad news is that I still have a lot of stuff in my room.
Try it. Whether you go through your room or through your garage, find some things that you don’t use anymore and put them up for sale on Ebay. One man’s trash is always another man’s treasure.
5. Pick up a second job
If you are tight on money, there are plenty of places that are looking to hire seasonal workers. The holiday season is a busy time of year for everybody, especially those who are working in retail.
One option would be to apply for a weekend job. Go to your local grocery store and ask if they need help, Target, Walmart, all of these stores are in need of more manpower during the holiday season. Sure, it may not be the most ideal thing to do with your weekend, but if you want to earn extra money during the holidays, then accept whatever it is that you can get.
With technology and consumer spending as high as it is, there is no excuse for not being able to make some extra money during the holidays. If you want to make money bad enough, you will find a way to do so. It is going to require time and energy, but nothing worth having comes easy, and nothing that comes easy is worth having.
