Daily Blog #352
Lately, I had had little to no motivation. Little motivation to no motivation to continue spending what is equivalent to one-third of my life running in the rat race. And yes, by the rat race, I am talking about work.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the company that I work for and the people that I work with are even better, but what am I truly gaining from the rat race aside from a steady paycheck? What value am I getting from working towards somebody else’s dream other than the fact that it is providing me with something as meaningless as money?
The thing about chasing somebody else’s dream is that it is never going to leave us feeling fulfilled. No matter what work we do, how much we do it, or how much money we earn from it, if we are not following the things that bring meaning to our lives, then it is all pointless. We are wasting the one opportunity of life that we have right in front of us.
There are probably going to be some that disagree with this, and that’s okay. But ask yourself something. When the time comes where your life is ending, would you rather look back on your life knowing that you made a lot of money but you were truly never happy, or would you rather look back on your life knowing that you made just enough money to get by, but you also lived the most amazing life imaginable? For me, I would personally rather live life with little money, but knowing that I lived the best possible life imaginable.
What I Am Doing To Escape The Rat Race.
Every morning I wake up at 5 am. Why? Because I work my job at 8 am and I want to do what I think of as meaningful work before I actually go to work. I want to start my day by doing something that is going to bring value to my life, and by doing something that is going to help me in progressing towards my goals before I am tied down by the schedule of others. I go to a coffee shop, read, write, and find stillness in my day all before others are even awake. While it is not easy waking up at 5 am, nothing worth having in life is easy. If I want to achieve the goals that I set for myself, then I realize that I need to be willing to embrace any and all obstacles that stand in my way. At 5 am, the snooze button is the biggest obstacle that I face. But if I am willing to embrace the pain of waking up at 5 am, then I am already a step ahead of everybody else.
Every night when I come home from work, I work some more. Not work for my day job, but work towards achieving my goals. I write some more, post on various blogs, podcast, and read. Again, it’s not always easy, but it’s what makes me happy, and it’s what brings meaning to my life. To me, that is far more important than any amount of money.
This is what I am doing to escape the rat race. Just because it is what I am doing doesn’t make it right or wrong, and it doesn’t mean that it is going to work for others. With that said, though, one thing is for certain. If you want something that you currently don’t have in your life, then you need to be willing to do something that you aren’t currently doing. If you want to escape your job to create your dream business, then you need to be willing to work harder than you have ever worked in your entire life, and you need to be willing to build your dreams from the ground up.
Those Who Have Escaped The Rat Race
Those who succeed in life do so because they refuse to give up. We all have the same twenty-four hours in a day, but those who are achieve their dreams do so simply because they know how to manage their time better than others and refuse to quit. That’s what it takes. If you want to escape the rat race and live the life that you dream of living, just know that as long as you refuse to quit and work harder each and every day, then there isn’t anything that you can’t achieve.
A lot of what we want in life comes down to our willingness. Are we willing to wake up before others just to get a jump start on the day? Are we willing to work towards our dreams during every one of our breaks at work just to escape the rat race all that much quicker? Are we willing to use our weekends as the time to start pursuing our dreams instead of going out with friends? Are we willing to get knocked down just to get right back up again while knowing that we are going to get knocked down so more? These are some of the things that you need to ask yourself.
If you don’t have the willingness to do these things, that’s completely fine. This is your life to live, and you have to live it the way you want to live it. But if you want to achieve your dreams and live a bigger and better life, then you need to be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your dreams. You need to be willing to stop at nothing until you achieve them, and you need to believe in the strength that you have.
Again, this is your one and only life to live. You need to do whatever makes you happy in life. Don’t strive to achieve a dream that isn’t yours just because others are telling you to. Follow your heart, listen to your mind, and be yourself. Do what makes you happy in your life and good things will come. You got this! Just believe in yourself, never give up on who you are, and you will become unstoppable.
