How to be the best possible you that you can be
For those of you who don’t know, I am a HUGE Casey Neistat fan. It is not just about the amazing content that he produces, but also because of his outlook on life. If you have never seen a Casey Neistat video, these four words will help to summarize his life. Do More, Work Harder. Let me tell you why this quote means so much to me and how I use it to find motivation.
I remember the day that I first turned on a Casey Neistat video. Social media was going crazy over his YouTube channel for two months before I finally caved and watched a video. I didn’t want to hop on the bandwagon, so I just told myself that I didn’t like Casey. After watching about 60 seconds of the first video that I clicked on, my opinion on him completely shifted. I was in love with the YouTube channel.
Watching Casey Neistat YouTube videos consumed my entire day. I think I made it through 30 of his daily vlogs before finally calling it a night. But like I said earlier, his videos are amazing, but it is his outlook on life that captures my attention the most. With almost everything in life, he makes something out of nothing. He has a kid at 17 and still manages a way to be successful. He moves to New York City and is living on couches, yet he still finds a way to be successful. It is not like his life has been easy, because it has been far from it. It is more so the gritty attitude that is displayed in each of the videos that are uploaded on the channel.
If you have ever seen one of his videos, you will probably recognize the tattoo on his arm that say “work harder.” A motto that we all need to live by. It doesn’t mean that you need to work harder when you are at work, it means that you need to work harder in every aspect of your life. No matter what aspect that you are looking to improve in your life, work harder. Parenting, dating, exercising, eating, whatever it might be, work freaking harder. Do not give yourself any excuses because excuses are simply us giving up on ourselves.
This motto has carried over into my life and has helped to motivate me whenever I am feeling satisfied. It is normal to be proud of yourself and of your accomplishments. But instead of being satisfied and content forever, learn to push yourself in another area of life. If you get a raise at work, don’t be satisfied with your life where it is at. Strive to get a raise and be a better friend to those around you. What I am trying to say is that we can all strive to be a better person no matter where we are in life. Don’t get too comfortable and always take a chance on yourself. Push yourself and never stop chasing your dreams and aspirations. Simply do more and work harder.
