Conquer Your Mind and Overcome Your Fears

Fear leaves us feeling hopeless. It leaves us feeling anxious, doubtful, abandoned, and worst of all, fear leaves us feeling small. Almost as if we are just a tiny speck compared to the rest of our surroundings. 

If we aren’t careful, this sense of fear will control our daily lives, it will control the severity of risks that we are willing to take, and it will also control any success that we encounter. Simply put, fear has the ability to control our overall quality of life. This is, of course, if we allow it to. 

There is a way around this, though. There is a way to conquer your mind and overcome all of your fears. How do you do so? You conquer your mind and overcome your fears by being bigger than your greatest weaknesses.

Conquer Your Mind

Just like our fears exist only in our minds, so too does the way we see ourselves. Sure, we can see ourselves physically, but our physical appearance does not accurately reflect how we envision ourselves mentally and/or emotionally. 

Even the biggest and strongest of individuals can feel small and inferior with their own minds, while the smallest of individuals can feel big, strong, and confident in all of the decisions that they make. 

Confidence, here, is the goal. The more confident you are, the less your fears will be able to control you. You want to be able to stand tall, to puff out your chest, and to have full faith in all of your decisions. It may not mean that your decisions are always right, but you are so confident in yourself that no fear can stop you from at least taking risks.

So, if you want to conquer your mind and overcome your fears, you start by doing the exact opposite of what you do when you fear something. Since fear makes you feel small and anxious (again, remember that this only lies within your own mind), you want to shift your mindset to be bigger. You shift your mindset so that you see yourself as large and in charge. 

What Does This Mean?

People who experience stage fright are often told to just imagine that everyone in the crowd is naked. All of a sudden, someone who is experiencing stage fright loosens up a little because, in their minds, there is little that they can do that would be more embarrassing than being someone in the crowd who is sitting naked. Why it works, I have no idea. But it can give you a boost of confidence that will help you to overcome your fear. 

Being bigger is a similar concept. No matter what obstacle you face, envision yourself being physically bigger. 

Going to a job interview? No problem. Envision yourself being five times bigger than the person who is conducting the interview. 

Feeling small in the gym? Don’t stress it. Envision yourself lifting pushing you max bench press… with just one arm. 

Tired of having little belief in yourself? Envision yourself hovering over each and every person that you see so that it is they who are looking up to you (pun intended). 

Whatever fear you may be experiencing, envision yourself being physically bigger. When you do this, your mind starts to think that you are bigger, that you are stronger, and that you are wiser than all of your fears. Your fears become small when you become big. 

Confidence Is Everything

Confidence is what is going to help to get you the job that you want. Confidence is what is going to help you to get that raise you deserve. It is what is going to get you living the life that you envision for yourself while believing that you are stronger than any obstacle that tries to stand in your way. Confidence, my friends, is how you will conquer your mind, and in turn, conquer your life. 

Do yourself a favor. Whatever you are doing right now, I want you to close your eyes and envision yourself being bigger. Envision yourself in the exact same setting that you are currently in, and imagine that you are bigger than everybody and everything else. You are bigger, you are stronger, and because of this, you are more confident. 

Do this first thing in the morning, right before you get into work, before a meeting, in the gym, before you go to bed, do it when you just need an extra boost of confidence. When you become bigger, you become stronger. When you become stronger, you become more confident. And when you become more confident, nothing will be able to hold you back.
