We all have times where we doubt ourselves and what we can truly achieve. There are times where we wonder if we are good enough, times where we wonder if we have what it takes to become successful, and times where we wonder if we will ever live up to the expectations that we set for ourselves.
In the face of adversity, it’s easy to cave and allow our doubts to prevent us from living the life that we want to live. It’s easier to just give up than it is to actually put in the time and effort required to prove yourself wrong.
If there is one thing that I want you to learn from me, it’s that yes, it is easier to give up than it is to fight through adversity, but it will never lead to a better life lived. If you want to become your best self, if you want to have more belief in yourself, and if you want to enjoy life more than you currently are, then you need to be willing to work for it.
The purpose of this post is to provide you with insight on how to become your best self. From a personal level, I want to share with you some of the tips that I have implemented in my own life that have helped me to improve my self-belief and have helped me to start living my best life. The best part about these tips is that you can start to implement them in your own life immediately.
8 Tips To Help You Become Your Best Self
1) Positive Affirmations
You may think I am kidding, but I am dead serious. If you want to become your best self, then you need to be willing to treat yourself like the person you want to become. Using positive affirmations will help to shift your mindset to focus on all of the good that fills your life, and when you focus on the good, more good will find its way.
- Tell yourself that you are strong, that you are capable of achieving each and every one of your goals, and that you are worthy enough of living your best life.
- Place a poster on your wall so that every time you leave your room, you are reminded of these affirmations.
- When negatives start to consume your thoughts, recognize them, push those thoughts aside, and focus on something that you have done well recently.
2) Let Go of Negativity
We all have negative thoughts pass through our mind. The key isn’t to force these thoughts away, but to recognize them and shift your attention. When you purposely prioritize all of the good that already consumes your life, the less negative thoughts will come into your mind in general. Negativity only cripples us if we focus on it too much, so don’t let it. Adjust your mindset and do more of the things that make you happy.
3) Find Your Purpose
ONE Thing… If you had the option of choosing ONE thing that you wanted to achieve in your life, what would it be? Now go forward and achieve it. You aren’t meant to “find yourself.” You are meant to create yourself. Create the life that you want to live, because it is just that, your life… and the only one that you are going to get to live.
4) Be True to Yourself
Never let anybody else live your life for you. Always be true to yourself, strive to achieve the things that you want to achieve, and always be confident in all that you are capable of achieving. The world is going to try and sway you in various directions, but the only direction you should follow is the one that you want to go in. Be authentic, and be the unique individual that you were born to be.
5) Forgive Yourself
You are going to make mistakes on a daily basis. I mean, we all do. The worst thing that you can do to yourself is to beat yourself up for doing so. Instead of seeing your mistakes as flaws, see them as learning opportunities. See them as a chance to grow from who you are now into the person that you want to become.
6) Practice Kindness
Go out into the world and do well. More importantly, go out into the world and do good. Good things come to those who do good. Practice kindness not only to your surroundings, not only to others around you, but to yourself as well.
- Reward yourself for all of your accomplishments.
- Practice positive self talk.
- Hold the door open for strangers.
- Go out of your way to put a smile on the face of somebody else.
7) Love Yourself
Why wouldn’t you? You are you and that is your greatest power. Trust me, as a man in who is in his mid-twenties, it’s weird for me to tell you to love yourself. But it’s the truth. It doesn’t matter if it sounds too feminine for some guys, if you don’t love yourself for being you, then you aren’t going to get very far in life. Not only that, but you will never truly enjoy the amazing life that you are living.
8) Live Your Life
Plain and simple, do more of the things that you love. Life is too short not to be doing exactly what you want to be doing. Who cares if that means taking a pay cut, who cares if that means taking a risk and potentially embarrassing yourself, and who cares if others judge you. Live your best life and become your best self.
At age twenty-five, these are just a few of the tips that I wish I would have started to implement in my life a lot sooner than I did. These tips have helped me to live the life that I am living, and they are a large part of the reason why I am as happy as I am today. I truly have full faith that they will also do the same for you.
