Here’s the thing about problems – you need them. As much as the problems themselves suck to try and solve, you would not be where you are today without experiencing the vast majority of the problems that you have already endured over the course of your life. And if you are still unsatisfied, or want bigger and better accomplishments for yourself than you already experienced (which I hope you do), then guess what… you better get used to problem solving, and you better start to learn how to actually enjoy it.

Okay, rant over. See you all tomorrow!

Seriously, though, everybody has their own problems in life. Problems aren’t just roadblocks that pop up every once in a while. They are roadblocks that pop up multiple times a day, heck, even multiple times per minute. But it’s the problems that you choose to spend your time on that will ultimately shape your reality. It’s the problems that you are willing to embrace, and the problems that you are willing to overcome that will lead to the success that you are capable of achieving.

Look, I get it. Coming from someone who is incredibly tight with their money, nothing pisses me off more than getting a medium coffee when I paid for a large, or getting charged full price for something that was clearly on the clearance rack. But you need to be willing to think about the bigger picture.

Is complaining about the difference of what would most likely be four fluid ounces, or the extra dollar that you had to pay for something full price really enough to ruin your day over? Is it really worth it to allow these problems to consume your mind and take your attention away from the far greater problems that you could be focusing your attention towards? You know, problems that will actually provide benefit and value to you.

Only you have the power to control what problems you choose to spend your time and energy on. You can blame others for the circumstance that you are in, blame the environment that you are in for not allowing you to succeed, or you can choose to focus on the the things that you can do to better your life, and choose to solve problems that will get you to where you want to be. Things like what it is that you are going to do to finally quit living paycheck to paycheck. Or how you plan on receiving that promotion that you feel you deserve. You get the idea.

And just to save you from any future disappointment, you should know that while you are solving your problems today, you are going to encounter more problems tomorrow. In fact, it’s the solution of today’s problems are going to lay the foundation for the struggles that you are going to face tomorrow. It’s just a part of life. Life is one big cycle of problem solving and embracing your struggles.

But the thing is, you need to be willing to enjoy the struggles of the things that you want because it is those struggles that are going to determine your success. You are not going to achieve the things that you want to achieve if you are not willing to embrace and overcome the struggles that come with your wants and desires.

Think of it like this. Let’s say your dream is to earn a salary of over a million dollars. If you want to make a million dollars, then you need to start enjoying the struggles that come with your goal of making a million dollars. Things like the twelve hour workdays that it takes to climb the corporate ladder. The neverending amount of projects that you keep asking for because you want to show your boss that you are serious. The eight cups of coffee that you consume daily just to prevent yourself from passing out on your keyboard due to the mental exhaustion that you are putting yourself through.

Even if your dream is as seemingly simple as finding more happiness in your life, you still need to start enjoying the struggles that come with your goal of finding more happiness. Struggles that come from upsetting others by saying no to the things that don’t make you happy. Struggles that come from failing numerous times in order to achieve more of the things that make you happy. And struggles of feeling pain and misery just so that you can know what happiness even feels like.

Sure, these things are not the most exciting and pleasurable things to think about. But if you really want to accomplish the things that you dream of accomplishing, then not only do you need to focus your energy towards problems that will actually bring value to you, you also need to start enjoying to struggles that will come with those problems.

Again, it is the struggles that you are willing to endure that will bring you the success that you want. So focus on the problems that are going to lead you towards achieving your dreams, and enjoy the process of becoming the best version of yourself each and every day.
