Follow your dreams and live!
Are you really living your life, or just talking about wanting to live your life?
This past weekend was nothing short of amazing. As I watched my sister get married into a new family, I also welcomed a brother into my own. The wedding was absolutely spectacular. My sister looked wonderful, and I got to see some of my family that I haven’t seen in years.
But we all know that weddings can get somewhat long, especially with the rehearsals, getting ready, and the car rides to and from the various events. Let’s just say that being the head case that I am, I often get lost in my own thoughts when I have this much time on my hands. Sometimes, these thoughts bring anxiety, and other times, they bring gratification.
As I was doing a lot of sitting, I kept asking myself this question, Are you really living? There were the questions that consumed my thoughts, and these were the questions that I was asking myself over and over again. Now, I want to ask you. Are you really living your life, or are you just talking about wanting to?
Do you waking up every single day, throwing the sheets off, smiling in the mirror, and telling yourself that today is going to be an amazing day?
Are you driving to work with a smile on your face because you are blessed just to have the job that you do have? I know it might not always seem fun, but any job is better than not having one at all?
Are you believing in yourself and following all of your wildest dreams no matter what? No matter how many times other people tell you that you can’t and won’t achieve them. And no matter how many times you have been unsuccessful in the past.
Are you focusing and looking for the good in every situation despite how you might be feeling, despite what you think might happen, or despite a previous outcome?
Have you been going out of your way to try new experiences and create new memories because you are sick of living your life based around your fears?
Are you trying new foods because you want to enjoy new tastes? Or are you still eating lunch based on the calories that are printed on the back of the label? Maybe, just maybe, you are actually nourishing your body for a change, and eating what your body wants actually wants. Not what your fears tell you what to eat.
Are you telling people what you think they want to hear? Or are you being the independent person that you are meant to be and telling others how you actually feel?
Are you surrounding yourself with those that lift you up and those that want to see you succeed? Do you cherish the time with those that love you for who you are? Do you tell them how grateful you are by letting them know how much they mean to you?
Are you doing your part to help and make the world a better place each and every single day? Not only by making it a better place for yourself, but also for every single person around you.
Have you been working to overcome your fears and embracing the challenge of trying new things that put you out of your comfort zone? Or are you still backing out from creating memorable moments in your life because you hate the thought of not being in full control?
Are you going to bed every night feeling exhausted and grateful? Exhausted because you challenged yourself, worked to create the future that you have always wanted, and pursued your dreams with everything. And grateful because you are beyond blessed in life, and you have finally realized how fun life is to live.
Are you really living your best life each and every single day? Or are you just admiring the idea of living your best life? Only you can be the judge of that, and only you have the ability to create your dream life.
These are the questions that I was asking myself over and over again. But, it got me to realize that compared to where I was six months ago, yes, I am really living. And guess what? It is pretty damn fun!
