“You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.” – Shirley Chisholm
It is believed that over the course of your life, you will have at least one million-dollar idea. The only thing about this, though, is that very few actually take action on this idea.
Instead of acting on the million-dollar idea, they allow fear to consume them and prevent them from ever moving forward with that idea. Just like with everything else that they fail to take action on, that million-dollar idea too will pass.
If you want to make sure that this doesn’t happen to you, then it’s time to start taking action on your goals. It isn’t going to be easy.
There are going to be times where you are going to feel humiliated. Times where you are going to question your ability. And times where you are going to have to work hard without seeing substantial progress. But just remember, unless you take action, you will never know what could have been.
While goal setting and creating a life for yourself that you want to live is going to be no easy task, here are 5 steps to achieving massive results.
1. Never stop learning
Learning is knowledge, and knowledge is power. If you want to achieve massive results, then you need to constantly be willing to learn. Even if you think you already know anything and everything, be willing to have an open mind, challenge your brain, and see if you can learn anything new.
The more information you are willing to take in, the more information you are going to have to help overcome any obstacle that may present itself. No matter how smart you are or think you may be, there is always going to be room for improvement.
2. Give yourself the opportunity to succeed
In the personal-development and self-improvement world, there is a saying that is constantly used. “If you want something that you don’t have, then you need to be willing to do something that you aren’t doing.”
It’s true! If you want to achieve something that you haven’t yet achieved, then don’t be scared to switch things up.
We often times stop ourselves from moving forward in life and hide behind our excuses. At the end of the day, we then wonder why we aren’t any closer to achieving our goals. The answer… because we weren’t willing to try. Nothing is going to kill success quicker than our inability to take action. If you want something, then go for it. No questions asked. Take responsibility for your life because only you can.
3. Stay positive and love yourself
Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right. But whatever you do, never discourage yourself or beat yourself up for your mistakes. Mistakes are part of growing from who you are into who you want to become. Learn to love them, learn to be willing to make them, and learn to love yourself no matter how many you may make.
Whatever has happened in your past has already happened. There is no changing it. Accept all for what it is, learn to let go, and move forward. You deserve better, but you need to focus on the better. There isn’t anything in life that you can’t achieve, so stay positive and love yourself for the amazing individual that you are.
4. Work, work, and work some more
Nothing worth having in life is ever going to come easy, and nothing that comes easy in life is ever worth having.
Success comes to those who are willing to work harder than those around them. Whatever you want to achieve, just know that you better be willing to work for it. Taking action in your life is the only path that will ever lead to change.
Don’t just say that you have a goal and will come back to it whenever it’s more convenient for you. Make that goal known, write it down and put it in a place where you will be reminded of it often, and work towards it every opportunity you get. The longer it takes you to get started on your goals, the longer they are going to take to achieve.
5. Ask others for help
One secret to achieving massive goals, and this is something that I wish I would have embraced sooner, is to ask others for help. Collaborate with others as much as you can, be willing to share ideas, challenge one another, and hold each other accountable.
People truly want to help other people in life. If you know somebody who has achieved the things that you dream of achieving, don’t be scared to reach out to them for a little extra help and advice. What’s the worst thing they could say? No? We are better together, so let go of your fears and ego, and ask those around you for help.
Achieving massive results is not necessarily all about working harder. While that is part of the equation, the other piece comes from working smarter. Make sure you aren’t just doing more, but that you’re doing more of the right things that are going to lead you towards the life you envision for yourself.
You are the only person who is in control of your life. Take control of your life and follow each and every one of your goals. That’s how you start achieving massive results.
