Ways to help overcome anxiety.
We all have experienced that feeling at some point in our life. That feeling like the weight of the world is crushing our chest. No matter how hard we try, we just can’t seem to lift it. It prevents us from breathing, it prevents us from moving, and it prevents us from being able to focus on anything else. Oddly enough, the more we think about the weight that is slowly crushing us, the heavier that weight seems to get. That weight, that is what’s called anxiety.
If you are like me, you probably have a tendency to overanalyze every situation that runs through your mind. It doesn’t matter how big or small the thought might be, I would constantly think about things until I came up with a desired outcome in my mind. Well, that is until I found three ways to really help me to overcome my anxiety.
Since trying to focus on these three tips, I have felt more liberated in my life. I have started doing things that I used to fear doing, such as going out to eat, hanging out with friends, and living without a plan. I have also been able to find self-belief, self-love, and motivation to live my best life ever.
Now I can’t say that these three things are going to help you overcome anxiety in your own life, because I honestly don’t know if they will or not. But I am going to share with you what I found to be the 3 best ways to help overcome anxiety in my own battle in hopes that they will work for you as well.

Surround yourself with positive people.
This was one of the biggest reasons that I was able to successfully face my anxiety, and overcomes any of my mental illnesses. I had enough doubt going on in my own head, that it was not doing me any good to hear additional doubt from others. So, I simply distanced myself from negative people.
Instead of having negative people in my life, I surrounded myself with my family, and I surrounded myself with those who I have always considered to be my closest friends. All of whom knew the difficulties that I was experiencing, and all of whom wanted nothing but the absolute best for me.
When I surrounded myself with positive people and individuals who want nothing but the best for me, it helped me to realize that I was not alone. Its was the uplifting words of others that helped me to find my true potential. No matter what the obstacle was that I was facing, I knew that these individuals would be there to help catch me when I fell.
They helped me to find value in my life, and they helped me to find the belief within myself that I needed to overcome the challenges of daily life. When you believe in yourself, and when you know how strong you truly are, you realize that you can overcome anything that you are going to face in life.

Focus on the good, and just breathe.
Trust me, I know that this one is a lot easier said than done. How? Because it took me five years to actually do this. But think about it, a lot of the stress and anxiety that we have built up is focused around negative thoughts. But when we focus on the good things in life, and all that we are truly blessed with, have you ever noticed how the stress seems to minimize?
When I was going through counseling, I remember one practice that would always help me to feel better. My therapist would tell me to sit still, close my eyes, and think back on the happiest moment of my life. Pretty self-explanatory to think about happy thoughts when you are feeling down, right? But it is a technique that we often oversee. And for me, it worked and still continues to work.
As I sat there and reflected on the happiest moment of my life, my anxiety seemed to dissipate. My breathing would slow down, my mind would quit speeding around like Tasmanian Devil, and that weight of the world that seemed to be on my chest would ease. When I opened my eyes, I felt refreshed and restored with happiness and positivity.

You just have to start.
We can all talk about the things that we want to accomplish, or change in life, but let’s face it, nothing in our lives is ever going to change unless we initiate the change. If you want change in your life, then you need to start the change. It doesn’t matter what it is that you are trying to accomplish or change in life, if you are not willing to at least start, you are never going to know what could have been.
I know for me, I often get overwhelmed with the amount of things that I want to accomplish in a day. I have all of these thoughts and intentions fresh in my head when I wake up, and I never write them down. Ten minutes later, what do you know, I forgot them. Instead of spending time accomplishing these tasks, I never even start them because I end up spending the majority of my time trying to remember what it was that I was thinking about.
This is why I recommend writing things down. When our tasks laid out in front of us, we don’t have to worry about forgetting what it is that we want to accomplish, and we have a better understanding of what it is that we actually need to do. Plus, when we see a list in front of us, we tend to hold ourselves accountable to getting these tasks done.
Concluding Thoughts
Again, I am not saying these are going to work for you, but it is worth a shot. These are the three biggest improvements that I made in my life to help me in overcoming my anxiety, and depression.
No matter what options you choose to implement in your life, always remember that you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. As long as you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything that you set out to accomplish in life. Always work hard, stay positive, and live your best life. You got this!
